We decided to start the bathroom first since this would be one of the hardest part of the basement project. Renting the jack hammer was an eventful trip with a clerk who had some serious mental issues. After knocking out the cement where the rough in would be we installed our first 2 walls. This is when we screwed up and layed it not squared.

Lesson #1: non only do you have to level the wall, you have to remember to square it to the cement wall. This will affect the hallway which we will have to correct. I guess one of the clues was that when we built the 2nd wall, it was not squared to the joist thus we had to do blocking for the drywall. I only figured that out after going into the houses in the neighborhood still under construction. I realized that they used the joists as stopping points to end walls so you do not need to block.
